Chinese Mahjong and Movie Night

On April 3rd, GCC and MSU hosted a Chinese movie and mahjong night. It was our last event of the year so we wanted to make it special. GCC ordered authentic Chinese food for the event and MSU ordered American Chinese food so we could suit everyone's tastes. We watched the movie Crazy Rich Asians and played mahjong for prizes. If students did not know how to play mahjong, GCC would teach them and help them understand. The event had over 60 people come! The event was a success and we got to eat tasty food and teach students about Chinese culture.

Chinese Tea Workshop

In this tea workshop, we learned a lot about the traditional ceremony of preparing Chinese tea. There were snacks and plenty of tea to go around. Everyone took turns preparing the tea and got to experience this unique process. Everyone had a great time!

Chinese Singing Contest

On November 14th, 2018 we had our annual singing competition. We started off with information sessions on study abroad and the Chinese program. Then, we all ate some Chinese food. Finally, we all ended up singing our songs with our class and then handed out awards for first, second and third place.

Chinese Calligraphy Workshop #2

Making friends 

 On October 10th, 2018 The Modern Language Department hosted the second Chinese calligraphy workshop. Approximately 35 students participated in this workshop. We drew bamboo, pandas, shrimp and characters(福). Everyone tried their best in this workshop, even though it was many people's first time doing calligraphy. All the students had a great time learning about calligraphy and hanging out with friends. This is a great way to learn more about Chinese culture while also making new friends.

Chinese Singing Contest

The Chinese Program had its 5th Annual Chinese Singing Contest from 5:30 to 7:00pm on 10/25/2017. It was a wonderful evening with songs, beautiful voices, delicious food, and lots of fun. CH205B got the third place, CH406 got the second place, and CH105B got the first place.
